About Stephanie
My name is Stephanie Stickler. I have been the director at Teddy Bear’s 65th Street location since 2008. I took ownership of Teddy Bear Day Care in 2023 and oversee the operation of both our Indianapolis and Brownsburg locations.
I attended Ball State University, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology of Human Development. I spent one year after college as an assistant director at a childcare center before accepting the director position at Teddy Bear Day Care’s Indianapolis location in 2008. I have spent my entire career working with children ages birth through preschool. In February 2009, I married my husband John. He is a member of the Indiana National Guard. We have been through multiple year-long deployments to Afghanistan. We have 2 children, Isabella and Jacob. Our children have grown up attending Teddy Bear since they were 6 weeks old.
My philosophy is simple: I love children and I want to care for them in an environment that feels as close to home as possible. Teddy Bear Day Care offers childcare that is a home away from home. We learn through play. We love and care for children like they are our own. I strive to offer a very loving and fun childcare experience. The facilities I run must be as good as it gets. If they are not good enough for my children, then they are not good enough for anybody else.
Close partnership with parents is also very important to me. Your children spend the majority of their waking hours in our care. Because of this, it is imperative to keep positive and open communication with families. Whether through parent and teacher meetings, phone calls, or conversations at drop off and pick up. We desire to ensure that families feel comfortable communicating with staff and administration.
Lastly, I would love to emphasize that the safety of your children is my top priority. I understand how difficult it is to be away from your most valuable possession and desire to ease your worry. We offer secure facilities with locked doors and family specific access codes. If anyone new or unfamiliar to us is picking up your child, we check all IDs to verify identification and ensure that they are listed as an authorized pick up person. We will not release a child to anyone that is not authorized to pick them up.

About Chris
My name is Chris Adkins and I am the director at our Brownsburg location. I was instrumental in opening our school in Brownsburg in 1996. Prior to opening our Brownsburg location I was the director at our 65th Street location. I’ve worn many hats during my early childhood career such as teacher, assistant director, and director beginning in 1985.
I have my Child Development Associates Credential and am a member of NAEYC. I reside in Brownsburg with my husband Randy, whom I married in 1985. We are the proud parents of three adult children and grandparents of 7 who have all had the opportunity to grow up in the loving, nurturing environment of Teddy Bear Day Care.
In my free time I enjoy attending my grandchildren’s sporting events and vacationing with my family in Gatlinburg. I’m an active member of my church and enjoy participating in various small group activities there.
I know that leaving your child in the care of someone else is not always an easy task. At Teddy Bear Day Care, we keep communication open between or parents, our teachers, and myself. Teddy Bear Day Care is a total child care facility that promotes a loving, caring atmosphere in which a child can flourish and grow. We take seriously the responsibility parents entrust to us.

About Darlene
My name is Darlene Tidd. I am the assistant director at Teddy Bear Day Care in Brownsburg. I have been the assistant director since 2009. Prior to being the assistant director I taught Pre-k for 18 years.
I have my Child Development Associates Credential and am a member of NAEYC. I live in Brownsburg with my husband Brian. We have one son who attended Teddy Bear and now I have the privilege to watch my 2 grandsons grow up attending Teddy Bear. From a young age all I wanted was to work in a daycare so it was no surprise to anyone when I chose this career path.
In my free time I enjoy taking cruises and exploring new locations with my family. I’m an avid crafter and enjoy spending as much time as possible with my grandsons.
I feel children learn best through play. The children we impact today are our future and I’m proud to have such an active role in their lives from the beginning.
